The state of Vermont Flag is digitally printed on 200 denier SolarMax® nylon. The fabric is made for outdoor use with four rows of stitching on the fly end. The material of the flag starts as white, the blue background and coat of arms are printed using DuPont ink. The flag is treated to resist sun and chemical deterioration. The state of Vermont flag is printed single side reverse, which means it reads correctly on the front and reads in reverse on the back, our minds can easily read in reverse, so I’m sure you have never noticed the text was backwards. Our flags are have canvas header material and brass grommets on 12″x18″ through 6’x10′. 8’x12′ and larger are finished with D Rings and either canvas webbing or rope and thimble. 4’x6′ and smaller are available with pole hem and/or fringe.

History of Vermont State Flag:
There is no record of an official Vermont flag prior to 1804, but there were the Green Mountain Boys formed in 1770, and the Green Mountain Boys flag dates as far back at 1777.
On May 1, 1804 the 17th state was added to the Union, it was expected the American flag would have 17 stars and 17 stripes. With the anticipation, Vermont made their first official state flag. It had 17 stars and 17 stripes with “VERMONT” embroidered on the top stripe.
- On October 20, 1837 Vermont changed their design to have 13 stripes like the American flag and instead of the stars, the placed the coat of arms in the blue canton on an 8 point star
- During the American Civil War, the Spanish War, and World War I, the Vermont military fought under a flag made up of the coat of arms on a blue background, very similar to what their flag is today. This flag was adopted as the official state flag on June 1, 1923.
- While it has slightly changed since the early 1920’s this is the current flag of Vermont.
